Rasmussen Reports Launches New State News Initiative

New “State Portfolio” Is One-Stop Online Source for Polling and Local News

March 23, 2010—Asbury Park, NJ – Rasmussen Reports, LLC, an electronic media company specializing in public opinion polling, unveils its latest information initiative, the State Portfolio, online today. The newest feature of RasmussenReports.com, the country’s most-visited public opinion polling site, the State Portfolio provides a new level of information to readers including regularly updated state polls, local breaking news and a Media Meter that tracks media sentiment about high-profile figures.

“The State Portfolio is one of several Web site enhancements happening this year geared toward enhancing our readers’ experience,” says company President and CEO Scott Rasmussen. “We recognize that people don’t care about polls so much as the topics we poll about. These State Portfolio pages enable us to supplement our polling data with a variety of different types of information and to package it in a way that’s concise and relevant to state and local issues.”

Each Portfolio page will feature an array of information about a state that will build on the wealth of political race and topical issues Rasmussen regularly polls about. The page even features the local weather. Among the special features: news stories generated by Rasmussen and outlets like the Associated Press; Twitter feeds; commentary, and the newly-developed Rasmussen Media Meter, which tracks the tone and volume of media coverage about major state politicians and other high-profile individuals and groups. Of course, there will be plenty of polling information, from Rasmussen as well as other sources.

“We’ll be increasing the frequency of our political and lifestyle polling to meet the needs of our State Portfolio readers,” Rasmussen said. “As our company slogan says, If It’s In The News, It’s In Our Polls. And now all you need to know about the latest state trends is in one easy-to-bookmark place.”

Rasmussen is currently featuring four states in the Portfolio: California, Florida, New York and Texas. The company plans to expand to coverage of all 50 states by the end of 2010.

Other future RasmussenReports.com projects include additional Media Meter widgets, an enhanced Premium Service subscriber site and a redesigned homepage.
