What They Told Us: Reviewing Last Week’s Key Polls

In surveys last week, this is what America told Rasmussen Reports:

- President Trump ended the polling week on Friday with a daily job approval of 42%.

- Last week’s raid on the home of Rep. Ilhan Omar made headlines, but most voters don’t expect the Minnesota Democrat to be convicted of federal crimes – in part because more than a fifth of them don’t seem to know who she is.

- Voters continue trusting Democrats more to handle Social Security, and consider it an important issue for the midterm elections.

- The issue of crime is important to voters in this year’s midterm elections, and Democrats now lead the GOP in terms of trust on the issue.

- The experience of having a credit application rejected is more common now, having nearly doubled since 2018.

- With fall colors nearing their October peak, most Americans say their favorite weekend enjoyment is a long walk outside.

- Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton is now tied with Democratic state Rep. James Talarico in the battle for a U.S. Senate seat in Texas.

- Democrat Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan continues leading Republican Michele Tafoya in the race to fill the Minnesota Senate seat vacated by the retirement of Democratic Sen. Tina Smith.

- Democratic challenger Mary Peltola has taken a narrow lead over Alaska’s incumbent Republican Sen. Dan S. Sullivan in a contest where ranked-choice voting will determine the winner with four names on the November ballot.

- Incumbent Republican Sen. Jon Husted has moved ahead of former Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown in the special election for a U.S. Senate seat in Ohio.

- The Democratic Party’s lead over Republicans has narrowed to four points in the battle to control the House of Representatives.

- Thirty-six percent (36%) of Likely U.S. Voters think the country is heading in the right direction.
