56% in Florida See More Negative Political Ads This Year Than In The Past

With Election Day just weeks away, 56% in Florida say there are more negative political ads this year than in the past, which is higher than results found on the national level. 

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the state finds that only seven percent (7%) feel there are less attack ads, while 36% say there is about the same amount as in the past. (To see survey question wording, click here).

A solid majority (64%) say it’s possible for a candidate to win an election without criticizing their opponent.  Twenty-four percent (24%) think criticism is necessary to win an election, and another 13% are not sure.

The survey of 750 Likely Voters in Florida was conducted on October 18, 2010 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/-4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
