A recent Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that most adults believe that a Microsoft-Yahoo takeover would be good for the economy. Sixty-percent (60%) share this view, while only 6% disagree and 33% are not sure.

Microsoft has made recent headlines after approaching the popular search engine with talks of a possible takeover. Yahoo reportedly has an estimated worth of $50 billion, and the proposed deal would be one of the largest takeovers in American corporate history.

While most agree the deal would benefit the economy, 51% of adults are not sure if the deal would be good for internet users. Thirty percent (30%) say it would be beneficial for the online community while 18% disagree.

Both companies are viewed favorably by the public. Microsoft is viewed favorably by 63% of the population, while Yahoo is viewed favorably by 65%. In January 2007, 58% had a favorable opinion of Microsoft.

Most adults (62%) have seen or heard stories on the proposed Microsoft-Yahoo takeover while 30% have not.
