Auto Market: Fewer Americans Expect to Buy

Less than a third of Americans are thinking about getting a new car in the next year, but not because they’re driving less.

2017. The new finding includes 13% who are Very Likely to get a new car, compared to 16% in March 2021. But most Americans (62%) still have no plans to get a new car, with 34% who say it’s Not At All Likely. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
