Atlanta Worker Confidence Much Higher in 2006 than 2005

The yearly average for Hudson Employment Index SM for Atlanta rose 11.9 points to 114.0 in 2006. For the majority of the year, the Index readings ranged between 114 and 116. The measure of confidence for the city began the year with its lowest reading with 106.3 in January and peaked to 121.1 in August. Higher optimism regarding personal finances, improved sentiment regarding job security and increased hiring expectations led to the rise in the annual average reading. The national Index, based on responses from approximately 9,000 workers each month nationwide across all industries, also improved its yearly average from 101.5 in 2005 to 103.8 this year.
