GOP Voters Smell a Rat When It Comes to the Media’s Agenda

Voters overall think the media’s going downhill, but Republicans are more convinced that the media would rather stir the pot than genuinely get to the root of the issues.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 48% of Likely U.S. Voters think the media is more interested in creating controversies when it comes to covering President Trump and the new Congress, while nearly as many (46%) believe the press is more interested in helping the public understand the issues. The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on March 30 and April 2, 2017 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
