The latest Rasmussen Reports election survey shows incumbent U.S. Sen. John Ensign leading Democrat Jack Carter 50% to 42% (see crosstabs). Ensign is maintaining his position at the 50% mark, which he hit in September’s survey, and Carter has added a point in his favor. When leaners are added into the mix, Ensign’s lead extends by a single point (52% to 43%.) This race remains in the Republican column for our Senate Balance of Power summary. Sixty-two percent (62%) of voters have a favorable opinion of Ensign. Fifty-three percent (53%) say the same about Carter. Thirty-eight percent (38%) of Nevada voters say they are “certain” to vote for Ensign. Thirty-two percent (32%) are “certain” that they’ll vote for Carter. Among those who say they plan to vote for Ensign, 77% will do so because he’s their candidate of choice and 17% will use the opportunity to vote against Carter. Fifty-nine percent (59%) of Carter’s voters will vote for him to support his campaign and more than one-third (34%) will do so to vote against Ensign. With less than three weeks to go until Election Day, Ensign has approximately $1.5 million cash on-hand compared to Carter’s $407,000. Throughout the course of the election cycle, Ensign has out raised Carter $5.8 million to $1.5 million in his bid for a second term in the U.S. Senate. Crosstabs available for Premium Members only.
