Not surprisingly, the latest Rasmussen Reports survey of Texas voters finds that President Bush is ready to carry his home state and win its 34 Electoral Votes this November. In Texas, Bush now leads Massachusetts Senator John Kerry 55% to 37%. Four years ago, Bush won his home state 59% to 38%. A month ago, the President was ahead by a nearly identical 55% to 38% margin. Texas remains safely in the "Likely Bush" category for our Electoral College projections. Bush attracts votes from 87% of the state's Republicans while Kerry gets just 74% of the vote from the state's Democrats. Among those not affiliated with either party, Bush has a two-to-one advantage. Sixty-one percent (61%) of Texas voters Approve of the way President Bush is performing his job. That's up a point from a month ago and well above his national Job Approval rating. Eighty-eight percent (88%) of Texas Republicans give the President their approval along with 61% of unaffiliated voters and just 30% of Democrats. Data for Texas will be updated again early next month.
