Michigan: Kerry 50% Bush 47%

In Michigan, the latest Rasmussen Reports survey shows Senator Kerry with 50% of the vote and President Bush with 47%. Four years ago, Al Gore won the state with a solid 51% to 46% margin of victory. Kerry has been consistently ahead in our daily Michigan Tracking Poll provided to Premium Members. However, his lead has declined recently and been smaller than five percentage points for three consecutive days. As a result, Michigan moves back to "Toss-Up" status for our Electoral College projections. Perhaps sensing the same movement in the polls, the Kerry campaign has increased their advertising in Michigan and scheduled an extra trip by the Senator to that state. Forty-nine percent (49%) of Michigan voters now have a favorable opinion of George W. Bush. That's unchanged over the past week. Fifty-one percent (51%) now have a favorable opinion of John Kerry. That's down from 56% over the past week. In Michigan, 50% of all voters Approve of the way President Bush is performing his job. That's down a point from last week and slightly below his national Job Approval rating.
