In the race for the six Electoral College votes from Arkansas, President George W. Bush has solidified his lead.

The latest Rasmussen Reports survey shows Bush with 51% of the vote and Senator Kerry with 44%. Bush won the state's Electoral Votes four years ago by a five point margin. Before the Republican National Convention, Bush was up by 6 in Arkansas, 49% to 43%.

The latest survey means Arkansas remains in "Leans Bush" category for our Electoral College projection.

Earlier in the year, the candidates had been tied in Bill Clinton's home state. Many commentators viewed Arkansas as one of the few southern states in which a Democrat could possibly be competitive. However, John Kerry's campaign has recently stopped advertising in Arkansas.

President Bush is viewed favorably by 52% of Arkansas voters; Senator Kerry by 44%.

In Arkansas, 54% of all voters Approve of the way President Bush is performing his job. That's down a point since our August release, but still slightly above the President's national Job Approval rating.
