Are Democratic Voters Feeling the Bern?

Recent polls are showing Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders surging ahead of Hillary Clinton in key states like Iowa and New Hampshire, but are Democratic voters taking this news seriously?

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 51% of Likely Democratic Voters now think Sanders is at least somewhat likely to end up being their party's presidential nominee. That’s up from 36% in September and 23% just after he officially announced his candidacy in May of last year. Still, the latest findings include only 13% who say his nomination is Very Likely, up from four percent (4%) last May. Forty-three percent (43%) still say Sanders is unlikely to be the 2016 Democratic candidate, with 11% who say it is Not At All Likely. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
