John McCain (R) continues to hold a slim lead over Hillary Clinton (D) in the Election 2008 race for the White House. McCain now holds a four-point advantage, 48% to 44%. A month ago, McCain was ahead by five.

While there has been no change in the McCain-Clinton match-up, Rudy Giuliani (R) has opened a five-point lead over Clinton, 48% to 43%. In the previous survey these New York politicos were tied at 46%.

Clinton continues to be the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination. Our latest primary polling shows the former First Lady attracting 34% of the vote. Barack Obama (D) from Illinois is a distant second at 17%. No other Democrat is in double digits at this time.

On the GOP side of the equation, many consider Senator McCain the frontrunner for the nomination. However, Giuliani holds the early lead in primary polling.

Giuiliani is viewed favorably by 62% of Likely Voters and unfavorably by 31%. For McCain, the numbers are 56% favorable, 35% unfavorable (see ratings for other GOP Presidential hopefuls). Senator Clinton is the most polarizing of the potential leaders. She is viewed favorably by 50% and unfavorably by 48% (see ratings for other Democratic Presidential hopefuls). Ratings for Giuliani, McCain, and Clinton are all similar to our previous survey results.
