Economy, National Security Are Top Issues

Election 2006 is the first election since the 9/11 terrorist attacks that has not been completely dominated by the War on Terror as a defining issue. For the first time in several years, economic and domestic concerns may have a significant impact. Over the last month Rasmussen Reports has asked likely voters in 33 states to name the most important issue influencing how they'll vote in November.We gave respondents seven options: the economy, immigration, governmental corruption, national security, the war in Iraq, same-sex marriage, and "some other issue."
