Barry Bonds hit major league home-run number 714 over the weekend, but only 41% of baseball fans believe he should be allowed in the Hall of Fame. A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 39% of fans say Bonds should not be allowed in the Hall while 21% are not sure.

Just 52% of baseball fans say they've been following Bond's quest for the record books somewhat or very closely.

The reasons for the doubts are easy to find. Sixty-six percent (66%) of baseball fans believe that Bonds used illegal steroids to achieve his records. Just 18% think steroids were not involved.

On a personal level, just 22% have a favorable opinion of Bonds while 59% have an unfavorable opinion.

Forty-two percent (42%) of baseball fans believe that Hank Aaron is the greatest home run hitter of all time. Twenty-eight percent (28%) name Babe Ruth while 7% say Bonds. Ruth is seen as the greatest by fans over 65.
