Barry Bonds hit major league home-run number 714 over the weekend, but only 41% of baseball fans believe he should be allowed in the Hall of Fame. A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 39% of fans say Bonds should not be allowed in the Hall while 21% are not sure. Just 52% of baseball fans say they've been following Bond's quest for the record books somewhat or very closely. The reasons for the doubts are easy to find. Sixty-six percent (66%) of baseball fans believe that Bonds used illegal steroids to achieve his records. Just 18% think steroids were not involved. On a personal level, just 22% have a favorable opinion of Bonds while 59% have an unfavorable opinion. Forty-two percent (42%) of baseball fans believe that Hank Aaron is the greatest home run hitter of all time. Twenty-eight percent (28%) name Babe Ruth while 7% say Bonds. Ruth is seen as the greatest by fans over 65. Rasmussen Reports is an electronic publishing firm specializing in the collection, publication, and distribution of public opinion polling information.
