44% Support Health Insurance Individual Mandate

More voters are in favor of the government requiring every American to obtain health insurance, but support for a single-payer system has fallen to its lowest level this year.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 44% of Likely U.S. Voters favor the new health care law’s requirement that every American obtain insurance. Are Voters A Little Less Unhappy with Obamacare?

Unfavorables for the new national health care law have fallen slightly to their lowest level in over a year, even as voters express less support for outright repeal and more support for tinkering with the law to improve it.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 44% of Likely U.S. Voters now have at least a somewhat favorable opinion of Obamacare, consistent with surveying since early 2013. Fifty percent (50%) still view the law unfavorably, but that’s down from 53% two weeks ago and the lowest finding since mid-October of last year.

52% Expect Health Care System To Worsen Under Obamacare

Heading into the highly consequential midterm elections, voters continue to give the U.S. health care system less than stellar reviews and believe it will get worse under the national health care law.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 36% of Likely U.S. Voters rate the nation’s health care system as good or excellent, though that’s up from 32% in September and is the highest positive rating since April. Most voters still don’t like the new national health care law more than a year after it formally took effect, and Republicans are hoping that translates into gains on Election Day.

U.S. voters are now evenly divided over whether to repeal the new national health care law entirely or fix it piece-by-piece, but voters are growing less certain that a Republican-controlled Congress would actually repeal the law.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 39% of Likely U.S. Voters want Congress to repeal Obamacare in its entirety and start over again. Voters Report Hurtful Insurance Changes Under Health Care Law

The number of voters who say their health insurance coverage has changed because of the new health care law continues to increase, and the vast majority of those voters say the change has been for the worse.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 38% of Likely U.S. Voters now say their health insurance coverage has changed because of Obamacare. Fifty-six percent (56%) of Likely U.S. Voters have an unfavorable opinion of the national health care law again this month, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Business Is Steadily Growing At New Health Insurance Exchanges

Nearly half of voters remain unaware whether their state has established a health insurance exchange under the new national health care law, but the number who are buying health insurance through one of these exchanges is steadily increasing.

Nineteen percent (19%) of Likely U.S. Voters now say they or a member of their immediate family has bought health insurance though a new health care exchange, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. That’s up from 15% last month and up from just four percent last November after the problem-plagued launch of the federally-operated exchange and state-run exchanges around the country. Opposition to the health care law’s requirement that every American have health insurance remains at its highest level this year, but more people also report that someone in their family has signed up for insurance through a new health care exchange.
