What America Thinks: Is All News Good News?

With lots of news at our fingertips, you’d think we would be more informed than ever. But are our fellow Americans paying attention to the wrong stuff?

Eighty-eight percent (88%) of adults in this country think Americans pay too much attention to celebrity news and not enough attention to news that has real impact on their lives. They’ve felt this way for years. The ongoing controversy over 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick refusing to stand for the national anthem demonstrates just how much celebrity news can permeate the mainstream. So does the latest Anthony Weiner sexting scandal that broke earlier this week and the subsequent news of his separation from his wife, Hillary Clinton adviser Huma Abedin.

It doesn't help that only 39% of voters trust the political news they are getting.
