What They Told Us: Reviewing Last Week’s Key Polls

In surveys last week, this is what America told Rasmussen Reports:

  - President Trump ended the polling week on Friday with a daily job approval of 44%.

  - Legendary country singer Dolly Parton’s death last week led President Donald Trump to order flags lowered to half-staff in her honor, a tribute that Americans overwhelmingly endorse.

  - The Democratic Party has widened its lead over Republicans in the battle to control the House of Representatives.

  - The president earned a monthly job approval of 43% in August, unchanged from July.

  - Democrats have a slight edge over Republicans in terms of whether voters think their votes make a difference.

  - The possibility that electronic voting machines may be vulnerable to hacking is a serious concern, voters overwhelmingly agree.

  - Most Americans don’t pay much attention to so-called “influencers” on social media, but they have more impact among young adults.

  - Most Americans continue to say kids should be taught traditional values, but less than a third think schools are doing a good job of it.

  - Thirty-seven percent (37%) of Likely U.S. Voters think the country is heading in the right direction.
