Trump Rated Better on National Security
Voters rate President Donald Trump’s handling of national security issues much higher than they rated the previous White House occupant.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 48% of Likely U.S. Voters believe Trump is doing a good or excellent job handling national security issues, but 40% think he’s doing a poor job instead. These numbers almost exactly match Trump’s rating from September 2020, and are far above former President Joe Biden, who got just a 35% good or excellent rating for national security in February 2024. The survey of 1,032 U.S. Likely Voters was conducted on May 11-13, 2025 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC.
