Commander-in-Chief: Most Veterans See Trump as Stronger
Voters are divided over how well President Donald Trump is doing as Commander-in-Chief, but he scores much better than Joe Biden, especially among military veterans.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 43% of Likely U.S. Voters think, compared to most recent presidents, Trump is a stronger commander in chief for the military, while 44% see Trump as weaker, and eight percent (8%) say he is about the same as most of his predecessors as commander in chief. By comparison, four years ago, only 24% believed Biden was a stronger commander in chief than most recent presidents. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 1,080 U.S. Likely Voters was conducted on April 19-21, 2026 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC.
