Voters Don’t Credit Trump For Improving Economy

The stock market is at record highs. Unemployment hit a 10-year low in May, and economic confidence is at its highest level in several years.  But voters apparently don’t believe President Trump or his policies have anything to do with it.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that just 39% of Likely U.S. Voters give the president good or excellent marks for the way he is handling economic issues. Forty-four percent (44%) rate his economic performance as poor. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on July 30-31, 2017 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
