2* President Obama has said he wants taxes raised on upper-income Americans as part of any deal to avoid the fiscal cliff. Is the president willing to accept a deal that includes both his tax increases and significant cuts in government spending or will the president insist on tax increases but no spending cuts?

 

3* Congressional Republicans say significant cuts in government spending must be part of any deal to avoid the fiscal cliff. Are Congressional Republicans willing to accept a deal includes both their spending cuts and the president’s tax increases or will Congressional Republicans insist on spending cuts but no tax increases?

 

4* How likely is it that government spending will be significantly reduced over the next few years?

 

5* Suppose the president and Congress agree to a plan that raises taxes on wealthy Americans and cuts spending. How likely is it that middle class taxes would go up too?
