* Does the United States spend too much, too little, or about the right amount on welfare and other programs to help those in financial need?

* A proposal has been made for the federal government to spend $46 billion to hire a million people on a temporary basis. Do you favor or oppose having the federal government hire a million people on a temporary basis?

* Suppose the federal government created a million temporary jobs in child care, elder care, education, public health and housing, construction and maintenance, recreation and the arts. How likely is it that most of the jobs created would be wasteful make-work projects?

* Another proposal has been made for the federal government to provide every single American with a basic income grant. The idea would be to provide enough money for everyone to enjoy a modest living regardless of whether or not they choose to work. Do you favor or oppose having the federal government provide every single American with a basic income grant?

* Suppose someone lost their job and has been looking for work for a full year without success. Should state governments offer such workers a minimum wage government job instead of welfare payments?
