1* A
comprehensive immigration reform plan has been proposed that would secure the
border and prevent future illegal immigration. As part of the plan, those who
entered the country illegally but have otherwise obeyed the law would
be given legal status to stay in the United States. If you
knew that the border would really be secured to prevent future
illegal immigration, would you favor or oppose this plan?
2* Think
for a moment about those who entered the country illegally but have otherwise
obeyed the law. If they are allowed to stay, should they be granted U.S.
citizenship or should they be granted legal resident status without
citizenship?
3* Suppose
the plan was changed so that there would be no provisions to secure the border
and prevent future illegal immigration. But those who entered the country
illegally but have otherwise obeyed the law, would still be given
legal status to stay in the United States. Would you favor or oppose that plan?
4* What if
the plan did secure the border and prevent illegal immigration. However, those
who entered the country illegally but have otherwise obeyed the law would
not be allowed to stay. Would you favor or oppose this plan?
5* Are
people who want to secure the border and prevent illegal immigration racist?
