Voters See Taliban Takeover, Border Crisis Fueling Terrorism Threat
The Taliban takeover of Afghanistan and the lack of U.S. border enforcement increase the risk of terrorist attacks against American, according to a solid majority of voters.
A new national telephone and online survey by the National Police Association and Rasmussen Reports finds that 78% of Likely U.S. Voters think the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan is likely to provide overseas terrorists a base of operation for terrorism against Americans, including 53% who say it is Very Likely. Only 17% say it’s unlikely terrorists will use Afghanistan as a base to attack America. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 963 U.S. Likely Voters was conducted September 12-13, 2021 by the National Police Association and Rasmussen Reports.
