70% Worry About Government Spying on Americans

Most voters are concerned about the government spying on U.S. citizens, and many are worried such surveillance will increase under the incoming administration of President-elect Joe Biden.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 70% of Likely U.S. Voters are concerned about the government spying on American citizens, including 39% who are Very Concerned. Twenty percent (20%) are Not Very Concerned and 9% say they are Not At All Concerned about government spying. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 707 Likely U.S. Voters was conducted on December 30, 2020 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
