Florida: Trump 49%, Biden 46%

President Trump holds a three-point lead over Democrat Joe Biden in Florida, a state that’s critical to whether or not the president is reelected.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone and online survey of Likely Voters in Florida finds Trump beating Biden 49% to 46%. Three percent (3%) like some other candidate, and another three percent (3%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Factor in those who haven’t made up their minds yet but are leaning toward one candidate or the other, and Trump gains another point, besting Biden 50% to 46%.

In 2016, Trump earned 49% of the vote in Florida, edging Democrat Hillary Clinton by 1.2 points to carry the state.

Eighty-nine percent (89%) of voters in the Sunshine State have already made up their minds whom they’re going to vote for. Trump leads 50% to 48% among this group.

Among the 45% who say they have already voted, however, Biden has a 17-point lead – 56% to 39%.

Ninety-three percent (93%) say they are definitely going to vote, and Trump has a five-point advantage – 50% to 45% - among these voters.

Biden holds just a three-point lead nationally over Trump in Rasmussen Reports’ latest weekly White House Watch survey. Two weeks ago, he was ahead by 12.

Thirty-four percent (34%) of voters in Florida view Trump’s overall job performance as the most important issue in the election. Nearly as many (32%) rate the economy first in importance. Other issues aren’t nearly as important as far as the state’s voters are concerned: public safety (11%); national security (7%); the environment (6%); illegal immigration (3%) and something else (5%).

Sixty-four percent (64%) of voters who see Trump’s job performance as most important are voting for Biden. Among those who put the economy first, 73% choose the president.

Fifty-two percent (52%) of Florida voters approve of the job Trump is doing, while 47% disapprove. This includes 42% who Strongly Approve and 39% who Strongly Disapprove. Trump’s job approval in the state is comparable to the numbers he earns nationally in the Rasmussen Reports Daily President Tracking Poll.

Governor Ron DeSantis, a Republican, earns 51% approval, with 36% who Strongly Approve. Forty-four percent (44%) disapprove of the governor’s job performance, including 30% who Strongly Disapprove.

Eighty percent (80%) of those who plan to vote for Biden nationally are likely to vote early, compared to 46% of those who support Trump.

Republicans were the most enthusiastic about the second Trump-Biden debate last night and were the most likely to watch. Overall enthusiasm was down from the first debate, however, even though one-in-four voters say presidential debates have changed their vote in the past.
