candidate names is rotated so that different survey
respondents hear the candidate names in a different order.
If the 2012 Republican Primary for president were held today, would you vote
for Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum or Ron Paul?
2* Now I’m going to read you a short list of people in
the news. For each, please let me know if you have a very favorable, somewhat favorable,
somewhat unfavorable or very unfavorable impression.
3* Which Republican presidential candidate would be the
strongest opponent against Barack Obama in the general election… Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum or Ron Paul?
4* Which Republican presidential candidate would be the
weakest opponent against Barack Obama in the general election…. Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum or Ron Paul?
5* Regardless of who you want to win, who do you think will
win the Republican presidential nomination?
6* Suppose your
favorite candidate does not win the nomination. When the general election is held, would you be most likely to vote for the Republican
candidate, President Barack Obama, or a third party candidate?
In terms of how you will vote in the next national election, are you primarily
interested in National Security issues such as the War in Afghanistan and the
War on Terror, Economic issues such as jobs and economic growth, Domestic
Issues like Social Security and Health Care, Cultural issues such as same-se
marriage and abortion, or Fiscal issues such as taxes and government spending?
8* In terms of how you will vote how important are the
candidate’s performances in the debates?
9* Which candidate do you trust most to keep the promises
he makes during has campaign… Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick
Santorum or Ron Paul?
Suppose you agreed with a candidate on a number of
issues and were considering supporting that candidate. If you later learned that the candidate voted for the bailout of the financial
industry, would you still consider voting for that candidate?
Would it be good or bad for the Republican Party if another candidate entered
the race for the Republican Presidential nomination?
12* Generally speaking, how would you rate the U.S. economy
these days? Excellent, good, fair, or poor?
13* Are economic conditions in the country
getting better or worse?
Are you certain you will vote for that candidate or is it possible that
something come up that causes you to change your mind?
15* Many times, things
come up that make it impossible for someone to vote in the primaries. Are you
certain that you will vote in the Florida primary or is it possible that
something might come up to prevent you from voting?
16* How would you rate the job Barack Obama
has been doing as president…do you strongly approve, somewhat approve, somewhat
disapprove, or strongly disapprove of the job he’s
