37% of Voters Under 40 Say Social Media Influence Their Politics
More voters than ever are regular Internet users, with over one-third of those under 40 now saying their political opinions are influenced by social media. Most continue to believe social media like Facebook and Twitter divide us as a nation.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that just eight percent (8%) of Likely U.S. Voters say they rarely or never go online and use the Internet, down from 20% in January of last year. A new high of 74% goes online every day or nearly every day, compared to 59% in 2019. Another 11% use the Internet several times a week. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted May 28 and 31, 2020 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
