Most Still Oppose Benefits, Legal Rights for Illegal Immigrants

Voters continue to strongly oppose government benefits and constitutional legal rights for those here illegally and think the availability of those things is a magnet for further illegal immigration.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 76% of Likely U.S. Voters believe that individuals should be required to prove they are legally allowed to be in the United States before they receive local, state or federal government services. This is unchanged from two years ago and down only slightly from 81% when Rasmussen Reports first asked this question in December 2015. Just 15% disagree and think illegal immigrants should be eligible for these benefits. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
