Do Voters Know We’re Still At War With Afghanistan?
U.S. airstrikes against the Taliban in Afghanistan are on the rise, but one-in-five voters aren’t even aware that the 17-year war in Afghanistan is still going on, and fewer see the Middle Eastern nation as a national security interest.
Fifty-eight percent (58%) of Likely U.S. Voters know that the United States is still at war with Afghanistan nearly 17 years later, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey. But 21% do not think we are still at war with the Middle Eastern nation responsible for the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, while just as many (21%) are not sure. The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on July 25-26, 2018 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
