Most Democrats Support Slavery Reparations

Now that California Gov. Gavin Newsom has a plan to pay reparations to the descendants of slaves, a majority of Democrats support the idea.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 38% of Likely U.S. voters support taxpayer-funded reparation payments to the descendants of American slaves, including 19% who Strongly Support reparations. Fifty-four percent (54%) are opposed, including 42% who Strongly Oppose reparations payments. In our January 2021 survey, 28% supported reparations.
