* How closely have you followed news reports about federal welfare programs?

* Which is the bigger problem with welfare programs in the United States—that too many people get welfare who should not be getting it or that too many people who should receive welfare do not?

* Do current government programs increase the level of poverty in America or decrease the level of poverty in America? Or do they have no impact on the level of poverty?

* Does the government spend too much or too little on poverty programs, or is the level of spending about right?

* Federal law now requires most welfare recipients to work or prepare for work as a condition for receiving welfare aid. Do you favor or oppose a work requirement for welfare recipients?

* Do you personally know anyone who is receiving welfare benefits today?

* Do you personally know anybody who is receiving welfare payments who could be working instead?

* In recent years, there has been a large increase in the number of people receiving food stamps. Is that primarily because of tough economic times or primarily because government rules have made it easier to get food stamps?

* Are food stamps too hard to get in this country, too easy to get or is the level of eligibility about right?
