68% Consider Fatherhood A Man’s Most Important Role

Father’s Day ranks lower than ever in terms of importance to Americans, but most still agree on the importance of fatherhood itself.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that only 10% of American Adults consider Father’s Day one of America’s most important holidays. Most Think School Children Should Honor the Flag Every Day

Most Americans say their families regularly display the U.S. flag on holidays, and even more believe children should honor the flag every morning in school. They also think school children should say the Pledge of Allegiance each day, including the phrase that America is one nation "under God."

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 60% of American Adults say they or someone in their family displays the flag on most national holidays, up from 56% in August of last year Thirty-six percent (36%) do not. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

39% Consider Memorial Day One of the Most Important Holidays

More Americans now rank Memorial Day among the nation’s most important holidays, and nearly half will do something special to celebrate and honor those who have given their life for our country.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 39% of American Adults consider Memorial Day one of the country’s most important holidays, up from 31% a year ago. Most Americans still think Memorial Day means summer has arrived, and many will be making the most of the holiday as usual.

18% Plan to Celebrate Earth Day

Most Americans still consider Earth Day important, but fewer plan to do anything to mark the day.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 39% of American Adults think Earth Day, a tradition established in 1970, has helped raise the environmental awareness of most Americans. 54% Plan to Go to Church This Easter

Most Americans plan to attend a religious service this Easter, and even more will eat with their families to commemorate the day.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 39% of American Adults consider Easter, the day Christians believe marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ, as one of the nation’s most important holidays. That’s unchanged from last year but down from the mid- to upper 40s for the previous several years. 69% Believe Jesus Christ Rose From the Dead

Today's Good Friday, the day Christians believe Jesus Christ was crucified. Most Americans continue to believe Jesus was the son of God and rose from the dead on Easter Sunday.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds 82% of American Adults think the person known to history as Jesus Christ actually walked the Earth 2,000 years ago. Just eight percent (8%) disagree, while 10% are not sure. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Few Americans consider St. Patrick’s Day an important holiday, but adults under 40 are much more likely to celebrate it than their elders.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just six percent (6%) of American Adults consider St. Patrick’s Day one of our nation’s most important holidays, while 57% consider it one of the least important. Washington, Lincoln Top the List of Favorite Presidents

This President’s Day, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln are among Americans’ favorite presidents, even though few consider it an important national holiday.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just eight percent (8%) of American Adults consider President’s Day, which falls today, one of our nation’s most important holidays, while 33% consider it one of the least important. Most Adults Are Indifferent Toward Valentine’s Day

Very few adults consider Valentine’s Day one of the nation’s most important holidays, but more than half neither look forward to nor dread the day.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just five percent (5%) of American Adults consider Valentine’s Day one of the nation’s most important holidays. 66% Want Dinner With Someone Special for Valentine’s Day

Most adults aren't planning to send or receive flowers this Valentine's Day, which may be good, since most want something else anyway.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 66% of American Adults want dinner with someone special for Valentine's Day. 20% Consider MLK Day One of the Nation's Most Important Holidays

An overwhelming majority of Americans continue to hold a favorable opinion of Martin Luther King, Jr., but just over one-in-three think we have reached the day of equal opportunity for all races that he envisioned.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 85% of American Adults have at least a somewhat favorable opinion of King. Just 10% hold an unfavorable opinion of the assassinated civil rights leader. This includes 55% with a Very Favorable view and four percent (4%) with a Very Unfavorable one. Americans Are More Pessimistic About 2014 – And About Their Health

2013 turned out to be worse than Americans predicted this time last year, and they’re slightly less optimistic about the year to come than they were back then. They’re more pessimistic about their health, too. 

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 41% of American Adults expect 2014 to be a good year at the very minimum, with three percent (3%) who think it will be one of the best years ever, eight percent (8%) who say it will be an excellent year and 30% who predict it will be a good one. 68% Celebrate Christmas As A Religious Holiday

Americans overwhelmingly celebrate the Christmas holiday in their family, and for most it is a religious holiday that honors the birth of Jesus Christ.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 87% of Americans celebrate Christmas in their family, and 68% of these adults celebrate the holiday primarily as a religious one. There’s nothing like waiting until the last minute for some.

24% Will Travel This Holiday Season

One-in-four Americans is planning on traveling this holiday season, and most of them will hit the road to do so.

Twenty-four percent (24%) of American Adults plan on traveling away from home this holiday season, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.
