Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Just 7% of Americans consider the March 17 celebration one of the nation’s most important holidays, but 47% say they will wear green in honor of the occasion. Twenty-six percent (26%) say they’ll have a drink to commemorate the holiday and 18% will attend a St. Patrick’s Day party. Not surprisingly, more young adults will toast the holiday than their elders. The holiday is celebrated in honor of the patron saint of Ireland on the anniversary of his death. St. Patrick’s Day became a national holiday in 1780 when George Washington allowed Irish soldiers in the Continental Army to take the day off.
