Presidents Day: Trump Is Best (and Also the Worst)

Today is Presidents Day, and a plurality of Americans consider President Donald Trump to be both the best and worst of recent leaders.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 17% of American Adults consider Presidents Day to be one of our nation's most important holidays, 36% view it as one of the least important holidays and 44% rate it somewhere in between. These findings have changed little since 2023. Ranking the most important holidays, Americans put the Fourth July and Christmas at the top of the list. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Asked which of the five most recent presidents was the best, 34% choose Trump, while 32% name Barack Obama. Twelve percent (12%) believe Bill Clinton was the best president of the past 30 years, while George W. Bush is named best by nine percent (9%) and Joe Biden is in last place with just four percent (4%).
