More Americans Plan on Giving to Charity This Year

Americans appear to be in a more charitable mood this holiday season than they were last year.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 73% of Adults say it’s at least somewhat likely they will make a charitable donation of some kind this time of year, including 51% who say it’s Very Likely. Twenty-three percent (23%) say it’s less likely they will give to charity this year, but only nine percent (9%) say it’s Not At All Likely. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Last year at this time, 62% said they were likely to give to charity, with 41% who said it was Very Likely.

One-in-four adults (25%) plans on making a contribution to a charity or non-profit group in a friend’s name as a gift this year.
