Support for Doctor-Assisted Suicide Declines

More states have legalized physician-assisted suicide for terminally ill patients, but fewer Americans now support such laws.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 47% of American Adults support allowing voluntary euthanasia in the state where they live, including 22% who Strongly Support it. Thirty-two percent (32%) are opposed to such a law, including 16% who Strongly Oppose it, but 21% remain undecided. Support for assisted suicide has declined since January 2025, when 54% supported legalizing it. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
