COVID-19: Republicans Happiest About End of Mask Mandate

Most Americans approve the recent recommendation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that Americans vaccinated against COVID-19 no longer need to wear masks, but Republicans are most pleased.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 64% of American Adults approve the CDC’s decision that people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 don't need to wear masks or social distance anymore, including 29% who Strongly Approve. Twenty-seven percent (27%) disapprove of the new CDC guidance, including 10% who Strongly Disapprove. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 1,000 U.S. American Adults was conducted on May 17-18, 2021 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
