Finance Concerns Hurt Twin Cities Worker Confidence
Worker confidence fell in Minneapolis-St. Paul for the second consecutive month in May, as the Hudson Employment Index (SM) for the Twin Cities dropped 2.8 points to 104.1. Financial concerns and layoff expectations triggered the decline, but were offset by an increase in hiring plans. Nevertheless, the latest Index is well above last May’s 95.4 reading. The composite Index, based on responses from approximately 9,000 workers nationwide, held steady in May, edging down 0.6 points to 106.9.
