Low Hiring Expectations Hurt Worker Confidence in San Francisco
The Hudson Employment Index (SM) for San Francisco fell for the second straight month in January, dropping 5.4 points to 94.2. The city’s measure of worker confidence has now fallen nearly 17 points since November. Nearly record low levels of expected hiring triggered the latest drop. Despite the downward trend, the latest Index is more than ten points stronger than last January 84.0. The composite Index, based on responses from approximately 9,000 workers nationwide, rose 1.5 points this month to 104.2.
