Two-Thirds of Workers Say Incomes Haven’t Kept Up With Inflation

More American workers now say their wages aren’t keeping up with inflation.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 66% of American Adults American Adults who work full-time say that, over the past two years, their income has not kept up with the rate of inflation. Twenty-nine percent (29%) say their income has kept pace. In October, 55% of full-time workers said their income hadn’t kept up with inflation. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

The survey of 1,019 American Adults was conducted February 8 and 11-12, 2024 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
