What They Told Us: Reviewing Last Week’s Key Polls - Week Ending March 28, 2020

In surveys last week, this is what America told Rasmussen Reports:

- President Trump ended the polling week with a daily job approval of 46%.

- The majority of Republicans share President Trump’s confidence that America can begin rolling back some of its anti-coronavirus precautions by Easter, but most other voters don’t agree.

- The Internal Revenue Service in response to the coronavirus outbreak has extended the deadline for filing 2019 income taxes to July 15, but a sizable majority of Americans plan to file by April 15 as usual. More than ever are worried about an IRS audit this year, though.

- Americans are more concerned about their personal safety when it comes to the coronavirus, but they’re regaining confidence in the U.S. public health system to tackle the disease.

- Voters strongly believe the coronavirus is a major threat to America’s national security, and most think our enemies are likely to exploit the U.S. government’s focus on the disease.

- Most  Americans continue to think the majority of taxpayers are honest when they file their taxes, even though more than ever believe they personally pay too much.

- One-third of Americans say they or someone in their close family is now unemployed thanks to the coronavirus. A whopping nine-out-of-10 are worried about the virus hitting them in the pocketbook.

- The Rasmussen Reports Immigration Index for the week of March 15-19, 2020 has dropped for the second week in a row - to 99.6, down from 101.1 the week before. This suggests that the coronavirus may be impacting attitudes about immigration.

- Voters are closely divided over how the government has responded so far to the coronavirus threat, but, even in a time of national emergency, it appears that party affiliation overrides all.

- Forty percent (40%) of Likely U.S. Voters think the country is heading in the right direction.
