43% Say U.S. Justice System Unfair to Most Americans

Americans are now evenly divided when asked if the U.S. justice system is fair.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 42% of Likely U.S. Voters think the justice system is fair to most Americans, down just a point from last July but the lowest level of confidence in nearly four years of regular surveying. Just as many (43%) say the justice system is not fair to most Americans, up two points from the previous survey and a new high. Fifteen percent (15%) are not sure. Generic Congressional Ballot: Democrats 41%, Republicans 37%

Democrats have taken a four-point lead on the latest Generic Congressional Ballot.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey for the week ending Sunday, March 23, finds that 41% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for the Democrat in their district’s congressional race if the election were held today, while 37% would choose the Republican instead.

Incumbents, Beware: Just 29% Think You Deserve Reelection to Congress

Voters continue to frown on the job Congress is doing, but support for congressional incumbents has fallen to all-time lows.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that only seven percent (7%) of Likely U.S. Voters think Congress is doing a good or excellent job, little changed from monthly surveys over the past year.  Sixty-four percent (64%) now rate Congress’ performance as poor, but that’s down from 75% in November, its highest negative in seven years of tracking. 29% Say U.S. Heading in Right Direction

Twenty-nine percent (29%) of Likely U.S. Voters think the country is heading in the right direction, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey for the week ending March 16.

That’s unchanged from the previous week and down from a recent high of 32% three weeks ago. For most of the last three months, this finding has hovered in the 29% to 30% range.

Twenty-nine percent (29%) of Likely U.S. Voters think the country is heading in the right direction, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey for the week ending March 9.

That’s up one point from 28% the previous week, the lowest level of optimism since mid-December, but down from a recent high of 32% two weeks ago. For most of the last three months, this finding has hovered in the 29% to 30% range.

For the first time in 2014, Republicans and Democrats are running even on the latest Generic Congressional Ballot.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey for the week ending Sunday, March 9, finds that 39% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for the Republican in their district’s congressional race if the election were held today, while 39% would choose the Democrat instead. This is the first time the two parties have been tied since the end of 2013. It is second week in a row that both parties have earned less than 40% support, suggesting there is still a high level of voter unhappiness with the two of them.

This is the first time since February 4 that the Republicans have held the lead. It is also the third week in a row that both parties have earned less than 40% support, suggesting there is still a high level of voter unhappiness with the two of them.

John Boehner now earns the worst voter reviews in the three years he’s been speaker of the House.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 29% of Likely U.S. Voters have at least a somewhat favorable opinion of Boehner, while 56% view him unfavorably. 28% Say U.S. Heading in Right Direction

Twenty-eight percent (28%) of Likely U.S. Voters think the country is heading in the right direction, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey for the week ending March 2.

That’s down four points from 32% the previous week and is the lowest level of optimism since mid-December. Prior to last week’s recent high, this finding had seesawed between 29% and 30% every week since mid-December. The latest number is identical to the level measured one year ago.

Thirty-six percent (36%) would choose the Republican instead. This is the first time both parties have earned less than 40% support since mid-September, suggesting there is a high level of voter unhappiness with the two of them.

Thirty-two percent (32%) of Likely U.S. Voters think the country is heading in the right direction, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey for the week ending February 23.

That’s up from 30% the previous week and is the highest level of optimism since the first week of June 2013. Prior to this week, this finding had seesawed between 29% and 30% every week since mid-December. A year ago, 34% said the country was headed in the right direction.

8% Think Congress Is Doing A Good or Excellent Job

Voters continue to give Congress rock-bottom ratings, and very few think members of Congress get reelected because they are good at their job.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just eight percent (8%) of Likely U.S. Voters rate the job Congress is doing as good or excellent. Sixty-six percent (66%) think Congress is doing a poor job. That’s unchanged from last month but still an improvement from November when 75% said Congress was going a poor job, the legislators' highest negative in seven years of regular surveying.  (To see survey question wording, click here.)

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey for the week ending Sunday, February 9 finds that 40% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for the Democrat in their district’s congressional race if the election were held today. Thirty-eight percent (38%) would choose the Republican instead. Republicans led by a point – 40% to 39% - the previous week which was the first time the GOP had been ahead since the week ending December 22. Democrats had led for four weeks in a row in January.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey for the week ending February 2 finds that 40% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for the Republican in their district’s congressional race if the election were held today. Thirty-nine percent (39%) would choose the Democrat instead. Democrats led by five points - 42% to 37% - the previous week. This is the first time since the week ending December 22, 2013 that the Republicans have held the lead. Democrats had led for four weeks in a row.
