Maine Senate: Jackson 49%, Collins 47%

Democrat challenger Troy Jackson has a two-point lead over Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins, who is seeking her sixth term in the Senate.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that, if the election were held today, 49% of Likely Maine voters would vote for Jackson, while 47% would vote for Collins. Four percent (4%) of Maine voters are not sure. In early September, Jackson led by one point, 46% to 45% (To see survey question wording, click here.) 

Jackson is supported by 87% of Democratic voters, as well as eight percent (8%) of Republicans and 48% of voters not affiliated with either major party.

Eighty-nine percent (89%) of Republicans would vote for Collins, along with 10% of Democrats and 46% of unaffiliated voters. Seven percent (7%) of unaffiliated voters are still undecided.

The survey of 804 Maine Likely Voters was conducted on October 5-8, 2026 by Rasmussen Reports.

The “gender gap” is now a net 16 points in the Maine Senate race, with women voters favoring Jackson 53% to 43%, while men prefer Collins 51% to 45%.

Forty-eight percent (48%) of whites, 63% of black voters, 46% of Hispanics and 55% of other minorities would vote for Jackson, while 48% of whites, 21% of black voters, 47% of Hispanics and 32% of other minorities would vote for Collins.

Jackson leads by a 25-point margin (59% to 35%) among voters under 30 while Collins has a three-point lead (49% to 46%) among voters ages 50 to 64.

Eighty-one percent (81%) of Very Liberal voters in Maine would vote for Jackson, while 94% of Very Conservatives voters favor Collins. Among moderate voters, Jackson leads by a 14-point margin, 55% to 41%.

Eighty-one percent (81%) of those who voted for Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election would vote for Jackson, while Collins is supported by 84% of those who voted for Donald Trump.

Democrat Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan leads by three points over Republican Michele Tafoya in the race to fill the Minnesota Senate seat vacated by the retirement of Democratic Sen. Tina Smith. 

Half of American voters want to give amnesty to illegal immigrants, a majority that includes two-thirds of Democrats.
