Rasmussen Reports Launches New Subscription Service

Announced in September, Rasmussen Reports today launched a new level of subscription service that gives subscribers access to more than 20 articles weekly that are not available to the general public: The Rasmussen Reader.

The launch of the new subscription service is part of a larger effort to distribute its public opinion information through a variety of media platforms. Starting today, The Rasmussen Reader will be available for $3.95 a month or $34.95 a year and will include much of the information currently available for free on the RasmussenReports.com website. You can experience the Rasmussen Reader by signing up for a 72-hour free trial.

The daily Presidential Tracking Poll, video updates, audio reports, and commentaries, will remain available to the public at no charge.

Rasmussen Reports, a media company specializing in the collection, publication, and distribution of public opinion data, has recently launched a one-hour radio show hosted by Scott Rasmussen. The show currently airs on WLS 890 AM radio in Chicago and WMAL 630 AM radio in Washington DC. The firm has also entered into an agreement with Telco Productions for the development of television programming. Other media distribution relationships will be announced in the coming months.

While Rasmussen Reports provides daily polling data on a variety of topics including daily measures of consumer and investor confidence, site traffic typically peaks in election years. The most popular page on the site is the daily Presidential Tracking Poll. Currently that page provides daily updates of the president’s Job Approval ratings and a summary of public reaction to other events in the news. When the Republican challenger has been identified, that page will also provide a daily update of the 2012 race for the White House.

During the 2008 election, Rasmussen Reports projected that Barack Obama would defeat John McCain by a 52% to 46% margin. The final outcome was 53% to 46%. In Election 2004, Rasmussen Reports was the only firm to project the totals for both President Bush and Senator Kerry within half a percentage point of the actual outcome.

The new subscription service will have no impact on Platinum Membership services.  Platinum Members receive access to survey crosstabs and other information for $19.95 per month or $199.95 annually. The company will continue to sell online advertising and offer title sponsorship opportunities.
