The Rasmussen Minute: Justice for Kate?
Shock and outrage was the response reported by news agencies across America after a San Francisco jury found five-time deported illegal immigrant Jose Ines Garcia Zarate not guilty of killing Kate Steinle on Pier 14 in San Francisco in July 2015.
Jurors in the highly politically charged case were not allowed to hear about the defendant's criminal history, his seven felony convictions or numerous deportations. They were never told that he would have been deported a sixth time but that San Francisco authorities released him instead, ignoring a request to turn him over to federal immigration agents. And when the jurors asked to see and feel the gun that was used in killing Steinle, their request was denied.
Was justice served in the Steinle case, or was she the victim, yet again, of San Francisco's sanctuary system? That's the subject of this week's Rasmussen Minute.
