The Rasmussen Minute: Trump's “Buy American, Hire American” Hypocrisy?
President Trump's signing of the “Buy American, Hire American” executive order was one of the most popular actions he's taken since being in office.
Still, his opponents and many in the media are questioning if the president is being hypocritical in this regard, considering that some of his own corporate products are not made in the United States. When confronted about this in 2015 by Jake Tapper, who was wearing a “lovely” Trump tie made in China, then-candidate Trump defended his business practices as a private person and blamed the Chinese for manipulating their currency to such a point that it was impossible for U.S. companies to compete.
That brings us to Trump's recent reversal on his Chinese currency manipulation stance, which brought more cries of hypocrisy, and which is the subject of this week's Rasmussen Minute.
