What America Thinks: Good Riddance, 2016

Has 2016 been the year of the Grim Reaper? Many seem to think so. Thirty-six percent (36%) of Americans say there have been more celebrity deaths in 2016 than in any other recent year.

From musician David Bowie in early January to the one-two punch of mother-daughter Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds just a day apart in late December, 2016 certainly witnessed plenty of loss. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, actor Gene Wilder, astronaut John Glenn, former First Lady Nancy Reagan and musicians Prince and Glenn Frey are among the many notables who died during the year. Madonna in an especially graphic tweet following George Michael's recent death demanded that 2016 end ahead of time. But Americans are bouncing back and already feel more positive about the new year.
