What America Thinks: Another Day, Another Shooting
The recent shooting of two television journalists in Virginia has Americans wondering again what can be done to stop this.
Most voters continue to oppose stricter gun control laws, and only 29% believe more gun control would have prevented the Virginia shootings anyway. Voters by a two-to-one margin have said in surveys for years that increased treatment of the mentally ill will do more than gun control to reduce the number of incidents like this. Voters show little interest in curbing access to violent video games and movies, but most now think the increasing use of social media encourages more violent crimes.
